About applying a layout template to an existing property

A layout template is a reusable property layout (areas and items) that you can apply to other properties, such as “Typical 2 Bed House”.

Applying a template updates the property’s Property Layout & Assets, so you do not need to manually create the same areas and items every time.

Before you begin

Before you apply a template, make sure you have what you need, so the change saves correctly.

  • You must already have a layout template available to select in the Layout dropdown

  • You need access to the Inspection Manager CMS (web-based system), where properties and layouts are managed

Apply a layout template to a property

To apply a layout template to an existing property from the CMS:

  • Use the search bar at the top to find the property by address, owner, or tenant

  • In the results list, select the property you want to update

  • Select the Edit (pencil) icon to open the property profile

  • Select the Property Layout & Assets tab

  • In the Property Layout section, open the Layout dropdown and choose the layout template you want to apply

  • Select Save Layout to apply the selected template to the property’s layout (areas and items list)

  • Select Save Property (bottom right) to save the updated property profile

Tip: After saving, quickly scan the Areas list to confirm the expected rooms and item counts appear (for example, Bedroom, Bathroom, Kitchen).
