About Key Automate in Property Tree
Key Automate is a Bricks + Agent/PropTech Labs capability that streamlines key tracking (virtual cabinet, overdue alerts, and borrower visibility) and integrates with property management systems. In Property Tree, agencies can surface MRI Key Automate from the Managements workspace under Tasks, as shown in your screenshot.
Note: Property Tree manages third‑party integrations through its Configuration menu, where admins activate partner apps for the database. Key Automate/Bricks + Agent availability and activation can vary by tenant and region.
Before you begin (prerequisites)
A short checklist to prevent false starts.
Property Tree role - You need admin or equivalent permissions to activate integrations. Property Tree integrations are administered via Partner Gateway
Bricks + Agent enabled - Key Automate is supplied by Bricks + Agent/PropTech Labs; ensure your Bricks + Agent integration is provisioned for your agency. If you don’t see it in Partner Gateway, contact your MRI or Bricks + Agent account team
Commercial status - Bricks + Agent promotes Key Automate as a streamlined key‑management solution (virtual cabinet, precise tracking, overdue alerts). Confirm your entitlement/subscription before proceeding
Navigation context - Property Tree’s Task Management features, and notifications appear in the Managements area
Enable the Bricks + Agent integration (admin only)
If Bricks + Agent isn’t already enabled for your database, an admin should:
In Property Tree
Go to: Configuration > Integrations > Partner Gateway
Locate Bricks + Agent (or your Bricks + Agent listing) and select Activate
Review and accept the legal terms, then complete any prompts
If Bricks + Agent is not visible in Partner Gateway, contact MRI/Bricks + Agent support for assistance
Open Key Automate from the Managements page
To set up Key Automate:
In the left navigation, select Managements
Under Tasks, click MRI Key Automate
This link opens the Key Automate onboarding flow for your database.
Read and agree to the Terms & Conditions
Wait for the connection to initialise; the first sync/handshake begins after activation and T&Cs acceptance, depending on your deployment
First‑time setup checklist in Key Automate
Once Key Automate opens, complete these essentials, so your team can start borrowing/returning keys with accountability:
Agency profile and locations - Confirm office details and any pickup/return locations that borrowers will see
Borrower types and permissions - Add/confirm key borrowers (e.g., staff, trades, tenants) and property managers as controllers/approvers
Policies - Set default loan periods, grace windows, and overdue alerts
Catalogue your keys - Create entries in the virtual key cabinet so each set can be assigned and tracked with a complete history
Notifications - Enable email/SMS (if available in your plan) for pickup confirmations, due reminders, and overdue alerts
(Optional) Align with maintenance - If you raise jobs via Bricks + Agent or inspection apps, confirm that key workflows complement your maintenance process (e.g., coordinating key pickup with job scheduling)
Note: Bricks + Agent markets Key Automate as integrated across their suite (e.g., with maintenance and inspections). Availability/features may depend on plan or region. Confirm your inclusions with your vendor contact.
