About AI summaries and comparisons for inspection reports
Inspection Manager includes two AI tools that help you review inspection reports faster: Summarise Report (to generate a summary of the report you are viewing) and Compare Report (to compare the current report to a previous report).
These tools appear when you open an eligible inspection report from the Inspections list.
Note: AI can make mistakes. Always verify important information against the inspection report and supporting evidence (photos, comments, and report sections).
Generate an AI summary of the current report
Use this option for a quick overview of the inspection report you are currently viewing. To access the AI tools, first open the report you want to review.
Search for the property using the search bar at the top of the page
Select View Report on the right-hand side of the inspection row
In the report viewer, select Summarise Report
Review the AI-generated summary in the side panel
Cross-check the summary against the report sections (for example, condition notes, maintenance items, and media) to confirm accuracy
Tip: If the summary is missing something important, use the chat box at the bottom of the panel to ask a targeted follow-up question (for example, “List all maintenance requests mentioned in the report”).
Compare the current report to a previous report
Use this option when you want to see changes between the report you are viewing and a past inspection report.
Search for the property using the search bar at the top of the page
Select View Report on the right-hand side of the inspection row
In the report viewer, select Compare Report
In the side panel, open the Select Report dropdown
Choose the previous report you want to compare against (only eligible reports appear)
Select Compare
Review the comparison output, including any criteria-based comparison and insights
Validate differences by checking the original report content and images
Use the “Ask, Write or Search for anything” box (AI chat)
At the bottom of the AI panel (Summary or Comparison), you will see a type box labelled Ask, Write or Search for anything. Use this to ask follow-up questions or refine the AI’s responses.
What you can use it for
Clarify the output - Ask the AI to explain a point more simply
Extract specifics - Ask for a list of maintenance actions, notable damage, or key changes between reports
Focus the comparison - Ask the AI to compare a particular area (for example, “Compare kitchen condition notes only”)
Confirm coverage - Ask what sections the AI used (for example, “Did you include media and assets in this summary?”)
Tips for better results
Be specific about the section or area you want (for example, “bathroom 1”, “garage”, “assets”)
Ask for the answer in a format that is easy to verify (for example, “bullet list grouped by room”)
If the AI output seems incorrect, re-check the report and ask the AI to “try again using only the report text”
