Device settings control how the Inspection Manager mobile app behaves when users are on mobile networks and how sensitive key details are protected. These settings help your office balance convenience, security, and data usage.
Note: Device settings are typically available only to users with the Office Manager role.
Access device settings
Use these steps to open the Device Settings section in the CMS.
Select Settings from the left menu
On the General Settings page, locate the Device Settings panel
In Device Settings, update any of the following:
PIN setting for key number
The PIN setting for key number lets you set a PIN that users must enter to view key numbers from within an inspection in the mobile app.
Update the PIN setting
Enter a 4-digit PIN in the PIN fields
(Optional) Select Clear to remove the PIN
Enable Sync via 4G/5G
Enable Sync via 4G/5G allows staff to upload and sync inspection data while using a mobile network, rather than requiring Wi‑Fi.
Enable or disable syncing over mobile data
Toggle the setting:
On to allow syncing over mobile data
Off to require Wi‑Fi for syncing
Tip: If staff frequently work in areas with limited Wi‑Fi, leaving this on can prevent sync delays and reduce missed uploads.
Note: Syncing can use significant data, especially when inspections include many photos.
Download Last Inspection Data downloads over 4G/5G
Download Last Inspection Data over 4G/5G allows staff to download Last Inspection Data (for example, previous photos, comments, and conditions) while on a mobile network.
Enable or disable Last Inspection Data downloads over mobile data
Toggle the setting:
On to allow Last Inspection Data downloads over mobile data
Off to require Wi‑Fi to download Last Inspection Data
Tip: If your office wants to limit mobile data usage, turn this off while keeping mobile sync enabled. Staff can still sync inspections, but will download Last Inspection Data only on Wi‑Fi.
