About adding a maintenance request during an inspection
The maintenance feature lets you record maintenance issues while you are already conducting an inspection in the app. This feature is an inspection-screen option that sends maintenance information through the Bricks + Agent integration. After the inspection is synced, maintenance issues identified during an inspection can be captured in the app and sent back to the Bricks + Agent dashboard for actioning.
This article focuses only on the maintenance request portion of the inspection workflow. You can learn more about the full inspection process.
Check that the maintenance feature is available
Before you try to add a maintenance request, confirm that your office has access to the maintenance feature. This option requires a Bricks + Agent account with an active integration.
Tip: If you are unsure whether the feature is enabled, check with your product administrator or internal support contact before starting the inspection.
Add a maintenance request while inspecting the property
Use the maintenance option when you identify an issue that needs repair, follow-up, or further action during the inspection. This feature is within the inspection workflow, which means you capture the issue while you are already assessing the relevant area or item.
Open the inspection and tap the maintenance icon
Use the maintenance option in the inspection screen when you identify an issue that needs follow-up
Enter the relevant maintenance details for the issue and include any supporting inspection information required by your office process, such as comments or photos taken during the inspection
Select Create to save the changes
Continue with the rest of the inspection
Sync the inspection when you are finished so the maintenance information can be sent through the integration.
Tip: Add the maintenance issue as soon as you identify it. This helps reduce missed follow-up items and keeps the inspection record aligned with the maintenance record.
Include useful maintenance details
When you record a maintenance issue, include enough detail for follow-up action after the inspection is synced. The public product pages describe this feature as a way to capture maintenance issues accurately and quickly, reducing manual reporting and back-and-forth communication.
Describe the issue clearly
Record the issue against the correct area or item in the inspection
Add comments that explain the problem, where relevant
Add photos if they help show the condition or location of the issue
Continue the inspection once the maintenance issue has been captured
Sync the inspection to send it for actioning
Recording the maintenance issue in the inspection is not the final step. The maintenance information is sent when the inspection is synced, and issues are automatically sent back to the Bricks + Agent dashboard for actioning.
Finish the inspection in the app
Choose Sync Now or complete the sync later from the inspection Sync screen
Sync the completed inspection back to the CMS
Allow the maintenance issue to pass through the Bricks + Agent integration for actioning
What happens after syncing
After the inspection is synced, the maintenance issue is sent back through the Bricks + Agent integration for your team to action in that platform.
Confirm that the inspection has synced successfully in the app
Check your normal Bricks + Agent or office workflow for the next maintenance action
Return to the CMS if you also need to review or finalise the inspection report
